“I want to speak about the 13 folds of the flag. Many do not know flag etiquette,” said Auxiliary President Chris Schimel of New Milford.
“It's important that people carry on these kinds of things. People think there that the13 folds of the flag stand for the colonies, but that isn't it,” she said.
More than 100 years old, the former national Ladies Auxiliary in August began including men.
“I believe that there are so many females on active duty now that the (name) change is not popular but necessary,” Schimel said.
The Bergenfield group, which turned 70 this year, has five years to change over material that refers to the former women’s auxiliary.
